Industrial Applications for Aqua Azul Systems

Aqua Azul UV systems are used to disinfect any product water used as an ingredient in food or beverage products. bottled water, aquaculture, agriculture, onsite wastewater, biomedical, tech industry and many other applications

Even though there is other methods of disinfecting water UV can be more green and efficient as the pasteurization and energy costs are becoming more and more expensive to use. UV is a non-chemical process and doesn’t change any physical characteristic of liquid and concerns of costs of removal and proper chemical handling from the water stream are removed form the equation. Always to good to keep in mind that UV treatment does not promote the generation of disinfection by-products, such as Trihalomethanes (THM), which regulatory agencies have classified as carcinogenic at certain levels in drinking water.

Aqua Azul UV systems can also be used and retrofitted in carbon beds, or be used together with carbon beds to minimize or eliminate chlorine and chloramines while providing 3 log or better reduction of organisms. UV offers reduces costs and also eliminates by-product by removing chemicals.

Aquaculture UV treated water

Aqua Azul Systems used in fish hatcheries

Aquaculture industry is the water used to incubate fish eggs and rear juvenile fish. With the dwindling supply of one of our most important resources, water is less abundant and purity continues to decline while disease concerns found in source waters continues to increase. As our population grows and the demand for water from growing urban areas increases with continued pollution of our natural waters and the introduction of new, pathogenic micro-organisms to natural waters through a variety of routes.

With the revolution of people taking charge of eating smarter and healthier has increased consumption of fish due to reported Omega-3 health benefits. This lends to increasing demands for higher stock densities in the same hatchery footprint. This bringing with it many challenges to a rapidly growing industry, but there are solutions available today which can help to overcome them. More and more the demand in fish hatcheries and rearing facilities are evaluating ways to improve the quality of their source water; while off-setting quantity losses through implementation of re-circulating water systems. This is leading more fish hatcheries to install sophisticated water treatment systems to enhance water quality, reduce the possibility of disease outbreaks due to pathogens and balance water needs due to the lack of available water from our natural sources.

UV disinfection systems are an important factor as part of a complete water treatment process in aquaculture facilities. UV disinfection system designs are available in both Chambered (closed vessel) and open Channel setup to provide the greatest flexibility to the hatchery.

Microelectrnics

In Microelectronics, Aqua Azul’s UV systems provide an enhanced, synergistic approach towards the reduction of trace organics and microbial contamination for ultra-pure water.

Aqua Azul is aware of the challenges that are faced by water systems professionals in the design and construction of a water system for microelectronics production. Aqua Azul disinfection units address microbial contamination in the system by utilizing UV’s 254nm energy. This process destroys the DNA which prevents microbial proliferation.

In ultra-pure systems, UV in combination with ozone provides an enhanced synergistic approach toward the reduction of trace organics. Organics are among the most difficult contaminants to control in a pure water system. As critical dimensions for integrated circuits continue to decrease and transistor capacities continue to increase, contaminants in the parts per trillion ranges can produce yield-impacting defects. Organics are polar and weakly ionize in ultra-pure water. This poses a considerable challenge to ion exchange resins. To prevent TOC leakage from polishing deionizers, silica and/or boron levels are typically monitored to determine when re-generations should be performed.

Aqua Azul TOC reduction units complement the organic scavenger resins of the polishing loop by oxidizing trace organics into free radicals (R -OH-) and carbon dioxide, which are more readily removed by ion exchange resins and/or degasifiers. Should continuous ozone be a process requirement, Aqua Azul UV disinfection systems can be used to protect both product and costly microelectronic manufacturing equipment by the dissociation of ozone into dissolved oxygen.

UV Used In Bio-Tech Industry

Aqua Azul applications in the Bio-Tech industry

For over 20 years Aqua Azul has been successfully serving the diverse Bio-Tech industry. Aqua Azul UV disinfection systems are reliable, deliver consistent performance and therefore have become one of the brands of choice for the Bio-Tech industry. Our value added products and services are found in both the pre-treatment and process areas of the water system. While commonly found in disinfection and ozone destruction applications, our low-pressure, low-pressure high-output and amalgam lamp systems can be found in many areas of the Bio-Tech industry.

UV technology for water disinfection or treatment has several advantages. There is no byproduct or chemistry introduced by UV light to the water stream such as color, odor, flavor, chemicals or harmful by-products, by only applying UV rays to the water stream in the form of UV light, UV technology is a fast, efficient, cost effective and environmentally responsible solution.

\

Aqua Azul offers validated systems, providing UV lamp and UV sensor validation with certificates, as well as Bioassay amalgam technology. All systems comply with EPA and FDA requirements. Select models carry the marks of CE and NSF and can be mounted horizontally or vertically, or in skid systems helping to maximize installation flexibility and to conform to any limitations on floor space.

With Bio-Tech UV system designs unparalleled in performance, Aqua Azul has been and will continue to be committed in providing superior quality and the latest advancements in UV technology.
